FALL 2008 Internships - New//Updated Opportunities

Contracts for Fall 2008 internships are due by Friday, September 5th -- see new and updated listings below.

We have received a number of new internship postings for the Fall 2008 semester. Check with the Internship Office (66 Vernon) for details. Completed contracts are due by Friday, September 5th (extended due to the Labor Day holiday).

CT COMMISSION ON CULTURE & TOURISM: Organization brings together tourism, film, history and the arts. Internships available in Visual Arts/Gallery, Arts in Education/Schools, and Support to Arts and Cultural Organizations. Contact: An-Ming Truxes, 256-2722.

Connecticut Coalition for Achievement Now (www.conncan.org): a dynamic nonprofit organization that is leading the way in closing Connecticut’s academic achievement gap, the largest gap between rich and poor students of any public school system in the nation. Intern will be responsible for supporting the implementation of various community organizing and advocacy projects. Tasks will include, but are not limited to small research projects, scheduling and attending meetings with local community leaders, and logistical planning and support. Qualifications:
• Must have an interest in education policy and grassroots organizing;
• Must be a college junior, or higher;
• Must have a valid driver’s license;
• Excellent oral, written, and time management skills;
• Flexibility with schedule—some evening and weekend work as needed;
• Professional demeanor, self-directed, and a team player;
• Proficiency using the Internet and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook);
• Also, a great sense of humor is appreciated!
