Yael Rasooly, one of Israel's prominent independent theater makers, specializes in contemporary visual and object theater.  Born in 1983 in Jerusalem, Israel, Yael was trained primarily as a classical singer and went on to study theatre design in London. She began developing her unique theatrical language at the School of Visual Theatre in Jerusalem, where she specialized in directing, puppetry, and design. Since 2006, Yael has been creating independent theatre works and performs at leading international festivals throughout Europe, the United States, South America, and the Far East. Her award winning solo performance “Paper Cut” has been presented in over 27 countries, receiving international awards and excellent reviews in publication such as The New York Times. Alongside her theatrical work, Yael has an international singing career.

Yael’s theatrical language is based on a multidisciplinary approach, combining different forms of visual theatre, puppetry, object theater, and music. She firmly believes in the possibility and necessity of independent creation, and is committed in her teaching to guide artists in the formation of their own personal language of storytelling and daring dialogue with audiences.
