Riyad Abubaker earned his PhD in Economics from the University of California, Riverside. His main areas of specialty include: Macroeconomics & Monetary Economics, Development Economics and International trade. Riyad's research focuses on using multivariate GARCH models and difference-in-difference regressions to investigate the asymmetric relationship between several economic variables following the financial crisis of 2008.

Inside the classroom, Riyad strongly adheres to treating all his students with equality and respect. Technological advances play a pivotal role in our everyday lives. For this reason, Riyad believes it is important to incorporate technological tools to help his students learn and utilize that which is in the world around them. Riyad takes complex Economic theories and models and breaks them down in a manner that is both easy to comprehend and relatable. In sum, Riyad believes the students will be more successful in their educational endeavors if they are able draw a connection between Economics and their everyday lives.
