Guanda Wu joined Trinity College as a visiting assistant professor of Chinese in Fall 2017 after receiving a Ph.D. in Asian Literatures, Cultures, and Media from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. At Trinity, he teaches advanced Chinese language courses, in addition to surveys of Chinese and Japanese literatures. Prior to his Trinity appointment, he taught all levels of Chinese language, and Chinese film, theatre, and translation courses at Miami University of Ohio, the University of Minnesota, and Oakland University.

His research won the Emerging Scholar Award from the Association for Asian Performance in 2012 and was given an Honorable Mention in the TDR (The Drama Review) Student Essay Contest in 2015. His Ph.D. dissertation on male players of female roles in traditional Chinese theatre has been funded by, among others, a Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship from the University of Minnesota and a Helen Krich Chinoy Dissertation Fellowship from the American Society for Theatre Research. He has published refereed articles and book reviews in such journals as Asian Theatre Journal, TDR: The Drama Review, and Theatre Survey.
