Allison Weinsteiger began her career in at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.  As a graduate student, she attended the University of Connecticut where she wrote a thesis on the fluid dynamics of magma in a Camptonite Dike.  At Oregon State University she studied crustal accretion at slow spreading centers as well as conducted research to experimentally determine partition coefficients in anorthitic plagioclase.

Currently, Weinsteiger supervises students conducting research on the timing, emplacement, and petrogenesis of igneous bodies within the Hartford Basin.  She is a team member conducting field mapping of the Wallingford Quadrangle as part of the State Geological Survey of CT, DEEP, initiative to complete the CT state map.  She is also working with students to map and interpret the geology of CT State Parks for the DEEP website.
