Anna Terwiel is Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science. Her research lies at the intersection of political theory, feminist theory, and medical humanities. In her book project, Problematizing the Prison: Resistance and Solidarity in a Carceral State, Professor Terwiel draws on the work of Michel Foucault and Angela Davis to theorize new strategies for collective contestation of the prison.
Before coming to Trinity, Professor Terwiel taught at Northwestern University, the Feinberg School of Medicine, and Stateville Correctional Center. In the classroom, she combines theory with case studies to help students explore the contemporary political stakes of theoretical texts. She encourages students to develop their own interpretations through writing and collaborative class discussion.
