B.A., Plymouth State Univ. (2003)
Jesse Riley is a graduate of theater studies from Plymouth State University, focusing his practice in the area of Light Design for the entertainment industry. He currently holds a full time position as the Technical Director of the Roberts Theater for the Hartt School at the University of Hartford.
Having designed lights for more than a hundred productions, Mr. Riley's interests lie in the implementation of designed lighting and how it can be instrumental in conveying specific elements that go along with the art of performance. Creating space, time, emotion, and mood though the usage of proper lighting is an art in itself. He'd like to believe that anyone who stands on stage would want to possess some knowledge of how the lighting around them is helping to create their art. Mr. Riley still continues to work as a light designer throughout New England, designing dance and theater in both the university setting as well as professionally. Working amongst individuals that practice the art of performance and thrive in the moments of discovery is what Riley says continues to keep this profession so gratifying.
