Timothy Richards received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in September 2009.  During his graduate career, Timothy focused on problems related to the automatic generation of modern compilers and simulators for next generation architectures.  Timothy’s research interests include compilers, programming languages, virtual machines, and more generally meta-programming.  In the recent past, he has enjoyed teaching Compilers at Clark University (Worcester, MA) and Introduction to Computing at Springfield College (Springfield, MA).  In addition, he has been involved in the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program for the past three summers and had the pleasure of advising eight talented undergraduate students from different colleges and universities from around the country.  Timothy believes in a diverse education that exposes students to a variety of fields.  He is committed to involving undergraduate students in academic research and increasing the number of students, especially women and minorities, pursuing Computer Science degrees.
