Nicole Dudukovic became hooked on memory research as an undergraduate at Stanford University.  She began her graduate studies in Cognitive Psychology/Neuroscience at UCLA, where she received her M.A., and then returned to Stanford to complete her Ph.D.  She obtained additional teaching training as a lecturer and course coordinator for an interdisciplinary human biology program at Stanford.

Professor Dudukovic is fascinated by the ways in which our memories shape who we are, providing us with our personal identities and giving meaning to the world around us.  What determines what we will learn in a specific situation or what we can retrieve from memory at any given time?  How does the way in which we work with memory in the present influence what we will remember in the future?  These are some of the broad questions that have motivated her behavioral and neuroimaging research.  She enjoys exploring these questions with student collaborators, learning with and from them.

Teaching provides a wonderful opportunity for applying principles of how we learn and remember.  Professor Dudukovic promotes active learning and critical thinking in the classroom and in her course assignments.  She hopes that students will leave her courses as educated consumers of psychological research with an appreciation for the beautiful complexities of the human mind.
