Dr. Ridgway received his Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2004. Since then he has taught at Wesleyan University, Trinity College, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and the University of Connecticut at Storrs. He has significant industrial experience, both from before his doctoral work and since then. He believes that teaching is the process of facilitating learning where learning is the process of developing a mental model of the subject area. This model consists of facts and relationships, the latter being more important than the former. He also believes that his industrial experience informs his teaching and makes it more relevant.
