Takunari Miyazaki is Associate Professor of Computer Science at Trinity College. His research interests are in the areas of algebraic algorithms, computational complexity and symbolic computation. He is particularly interested in the rich interplay amongst these three areas involving group-theoretic problems.
At Trinity, Miyazaki strives to challenge students to become better problem-solvers in his courses at all levels. In addition to teaching introductory courses, he has taught advanced courses on algorithms, the theory of computation and foundations of programming languages. Recently, he has also developed and taught a first-year seminar on classical and modern cryptology.
Prior to joining the Trinity faculty in 2001, Miyazaki was on the faculty at Bucknell University. He received his Ph.D. in computer and information science from the University of Oregon under the direction of Professor Eugene M. Luks in 1999. He has also held visiting positions at Nihon University and Northeastern University.
