Professor Morris' primary areas of specialization are Organizational Theory, Sociology of Reproduction and Birth, Political Sociology, and Sex and Gender. Her forthcoming book, Cut It Out: The C-Section Epidemic in America, will be published by New York University Press in September 2013. She is currently conducting an ethnographic project examining the role of labor and delivery nurses in supporting women during labor and delivery. She and her research assistants have completed nearly 200 hours of observations at a tertiary care hospital in Connecticut. They plan to start observations at a community hospital in Connecticut in the spring.
