Shyam Gouri Suresh has had a keen interest in teaching ever since his days as a student mentor during his undergraduate education at Trinity College.  This interest was whetted further during his experience as an instructor and teaching assistant at the University of Texas, Austin.  In addition, Shyam aims to bring perspectives that he gained through his work experience at a major corporate consulting firm, Deloitte, to his classroom lectures.

For Shyam, the ultimate reward from good teaching is the ‘Eureka!’ moment: The lit up eyes of a student who has grasped a difficult concept.  Starting from his days as an undergraduate mentor at Trinity College and on through his days as a course instructor at the University of Texas, it has always been the reward of watching difficult concepts take root in the mind of the individual student that has motivated him to improve himself as a teacher.

His major fields of research interest are Macroeconomics and International Economics.  His current research interests include topics in development that relate to international economics and he is working on papers that explore the impact of international migration and migrant remittances in a general equilibrium setting.
