Thora Brylowe is thrilled to return to Trinity, where she earned her Masters degree. She recently finished her Ph.D. in Literary and Cultural Studies from the Department of English at Carnegie Mellon University. Her research into Romantic-era British literature examines crosscurrents between the literary and visual fields and their print media as they transformed authorship. Her teaching interests include British Romantic poetry and novels, the history of the book and of authorship, the sister arts, tragedy, Shakespeare, and British literature of the18th century. In her classroom, she invites students to consider literary texts from a variety of critical positions. She works hard to empower students in their arguments about meaning, asking them to articulate their own positions but also to understand those positions as part of a system of interactions between the text, its material form(s), its author(s), readers, and their institutions and histories.
