Nathan Margalit is a painter and printmaker.  He has had numerous solo exhibitions, group shows, and museum and touring exhibitions.  His work is in public and private collections in the U.S., South Africa, Canada, Australia and Germany.

Narthan was raised and educated in Cape Town, South Africa. He completed his undergraduate work at the University of Cape Town, thereafter obtaining his MFA at the Maryland Institute College of Art.  He returned to teach at the Michaelis School of Fine Art, University of Cape Town where he was appointed head of Foundation Studies.

In 1986 he was invited to take up an appointment as visiting artist at Amherst College, MA. Since taking up residency in the U.S. Margalit has continued to exhibit and teach and has participated in numerous presentations and workshops throughout the Northeast Northeast at institutions such as the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford and The Yale Center for British Art in New Haven.

He is currently associated with the studio arts programs at TrinityCollege and MountHolyokeCollege. His teaching reflects his own art-making interests and has included drawing, printmaking, painting, puppet theatre and an interdisciplinary seminar: Making Things.

He lives in Amherst, Massachusetts where he has his studio.
