Dr. Megan Faver Hartline is an experienced community-engaged researcher and teacher who received a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition from the University of Louisville in 2017. As Associate Director of the Community Learning Initiative, she connects Trinity students and faculty with local organizations in Hartford to create partnerships that deepen learning experiences for students and help community members accomplish their civic and organizational goals.

In the classroom, Hartline assigns projects that blend inquiry and public action to encourage students to consider issues from multiple perspectives and become more engaged citizens while also learning to write effectively for academic and public audiences.

In her research, Hartline examines how universities can make community engagement more than just a buzzword by crafting institutional structures that support community-engaged projects materially and ideologically. Her work is published in Community Literacy Journal, Computers and Composition Online, and JAC.
