Karim was born and raised in Tunisia, and considers himself extremely fortunate for being raised in an inter-racial, inter-cultural, and inter-religious home. Thanks to the vast differences that existed between his parents, he was able to gain an unparalleled amount of diversity of thought and self-knowledge. Karim received a dual BA in International Studies and French Studies from Iona College. He then received a dual MA also in International Studies and French Studies from UConn. He is currently finishing his PhD dissertation work. Karim’s upbringing is reflected in his classroom teaching style, which fundamentally fosters the spirit of inquiry and intellectual curiosity.
