Kevin Zevallos majored in Sociology as an undergraduate at Connecticut College. He is currently a graduate student in Sociology at the University of Connecticut. Kevin’s master’s thesis studied how social movement participants justify and rationalize the use of a political identity which conflicts with their personal identity and values. At Trinity, Kevin will teach a course on the Principles of Sociology. Kevin believes in cultivating a learning environment where students feel safe to participate, debate and ask questions. Kevin’s role is to create a curriculum where students are taught how to think, ask questions and make connections between their own personal life and identities to the broader social world.

Kevin’s passion for research and higher education began in undergraduate where he received the national Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship, which provided yearly financial assistance and institutional support to propose, create and implement a research project. Since then, Kevin has received various grants from the Social Science Research Council as well as institutional fellowships from the University of Connecticut.
